SBB Asks: What Does The First Hour Of Your Day Look Like?
Now that you know which books our Season 1 guests are currently reading, it's time to move on to another question.
What does the first hour of their days look like? Some people are fanatic about starting their day off in a certain way while others are pretty relaxed about it.
I asked each guest the same five questions and will be posting their answers to each question, one blog at a time. Their answers will be listed in order of appearance. I'll also be adding my answers at the bottom.
The point of this series is to dive into the habits and rituals of local, successful personalities. Each and every guest on South Bend Beat is just that and they are all playing a role in this South Bend resurgence. It's a very Ferriss-ian project. Enjoy!
WHAT DOES THE FIRST HOUR YOUR DAY LOOK LIKE?
"I wake up and start brewing coffee. The first step of every day (outside of the weekend) is to plan out my day. I use Productivity Planner and schedule out my To-Do's for the day. Then I head out to work. This usually takes me to a coffee shop where I cowork with different people."
"Depending on the day, my alarm goes off at 4:00 AM or 4:45 AM. I wake up, get dressed and head to the Pure Barre studio to teach the 5:15 AM or 6:00 AM class."
"I hit my snooze button a few times and finally wake up at 3:00 AM-ish. Then I chug a water, wash my face with hot water, put my eye drops in and shower. Then I'll throw some clothes on, grab a few granola bars to eat during the show, make the 10 minute drive to work and start show prep at 4:00 AM for the show at 5:30 AM."
"I sleep in compared to most people. Generally, I'm lounging on my phone catching up on emails and any news that's happened while I was sleeping."
"Cursing the sunlight like a vampire! Theatre people are not fond of mornings."
"Any mixture of inspirational reading, stretching, yoga, shower and TEA."
"I stop by morning press shows before 7:00 AM. Then I'll review daily news stories and/or hold coffee meetings with community leaders."
"Responding to emails from the night before and scheduling social media posts or, if on a gameday, programming the video board."
"I am NOT a morning person so the first hour of my day looks like a half hour of snoozing the alarm (simultaneously enjoying doggie cuddles) and then social media, checking on events, getting some posts up, feeling inspired by Lin-Manuel Miranda, et cetera."
"Sadly, I don't have much of a routine. I'm working on it. Depending on how the previous night went, I'll wake up anywhere from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM. I'll spend the first 10-ish minutes catching up on social media followed by a shower, letting the dog out, priming (highly recommend) and getting ready to head out for the day."
